One of
the great mysteries of life is this: “Why is it that
every time one of my children want to swap vehicles with
me because they need my truck, their vehicle is
completely out of gas and I have just filled my tank?”
Somebody, please tell my why!
Oh, I moan and complain about it, but the truth is that
I am really happy to be able to do things for my
children. I like the fact that they come to me for
things they need.
If it pleases me when my children come to me for things
they need, imagine how it must please God when we come
to him when we are empty and need filling. In Ephesians,
chapter 3, Paul is telling his readers about the mystery
of God’s grace in Jesus Christ. In verses 14 through 19
he sums up this mystery by saying, “For this reason I
bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
that He would grant you, according to the riches of His
glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit
in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts
through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in
love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what
is the width and length and depth and height, to know
the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may
be FILLED with all the fullness of God.”
If you find yourself running on empty, remember that
God’s grace is unlimited and He would love nothing
better than for you to call on him for help. Enjoy the
summer, have fun, take a vacation (I am) but don’t
forget to fill the tank.
