Three Men and a
Dog…
Do you know someone that seems to be followed by a dark
rain cloud? You know what I mean...bad things seem to
follow them like some potential brewing storm! Well, in
the month of August I felt like rain cloud girl! I was
tickled to death to flip over the calendar to September.
In August 2008, we had planned a long-awaited trip to
the beach. We had to wait for Tim's schedule to totally
be clear and still pack, get there, unpack, relax, pack,
home again, unpack and relax again before school
started! Wheww!
In the meantime, Sheffield, our million dollar mutt with
"people-looking" eyes had to have doggy knee surgery.
This is a torn ACL for humans. He had been limping
around for over a month and his knee would not get
better without surgery. So, me and Wyatt dropped off
Sheffield at the Vet to leave him while we were at the
beach. We walked him down to the doggy hotel part and to
our shock, he was next to a loud, giant Doberman with
the lampshade apparatus on his head! This was no easy
task! If you have ever seen Sheff, you know that his
eyes look human. To see the sad look in that dog's eyes
when we left him for surgery, was truly heartbreaking.
Sunday morning, we left for the beach and arrived
without any problems. I was just getting some much
needed relaxation when my Mom called. It seems that they
had taken my brother to the hospital with terrible
abdominal/chest pain. Turns out, he needed his
gallbladder removed. On the same day, my Dad had to be
admitted to the hospital for tests before his kidney
surgery on the 18th. Then, Wyatt gets stung by a
jellyfish the last day of our trip! When your baby
hurts, you hurt! We return home to the same drought as
when we left. Our life was then filled with doggy meds
and tranquilizers, because Sheff was to be on "leash
walk" only. Then school starts back. This is the last
year my baby will be in an Elementary School, so this
was also a bittersweet milestone. Then next, Tim surgery
gets scheduled the same day as my Dad's!
So to recap...in the month of August, my dog had to have
doggy knee surgery, my Dad had been checked into the
hospital for tests, my brother had unexpected
gallbladder surgery, Wyatt got stung by a Jellyfish,
school started back and to top it off...Tim and My Dad
had to have surgery on the same day!
Now, the outcome...All surgeries went well, no cancer,
and Sheffield is now walking on all 4's again. So now
you know about "3 Men and a Dog." Sounds like a movie
doesn't it?
So you might ask, What is the moral of the story? Even
when we think we can't take anymore, God gives us the
strength to carry on and we can't carry on...He carries
Us! Peace to all-
Sandy
Cast thy
burden upon the Lord, and He shall sustain thee. He
shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.
